Abstract:

Various engineering evaluations of the turbine and generator components are required when considering uprating units. Often, certain turbine and generator components have to be redesigned because of the new loadings and dimensional changes of other components. These design evaluations and design modifications are discussed using two uprate projects as examples. One project involved uprating two vertical units from 1050 kW to 1413 kW and the second project was the uprating of two horizontal units from 1600 kW to 1950 kW.
