Abstract:

This paper describes some of the conditions found during major overhaul of main units at two hydroelectric power plants. Problems encountered and their solutions are described. The effects of particular design details and maintenance practices, as well as the effects of up to 35 years of routine operation are demonstrated. Some of the repair methods and repair materials are briefly presented.
