Abstract:

This paper discusses an index testing procedure used by TVA for measuring performance levels of its hydroelectric units. It also describes a current program for retesting generating units by the index method to compare present performance levels with the levels obtained when these units were originally placed in service. Examples are given of the test results obtained from this program.
