Abstract:

The paper presents the author's view of current financing trends in the hydroelectric project development industry. These events are described in the context of the author's company, Catalyst Energy Development Corporation, and its activities in this field. Since the enactment of PURPA in 1978 there have been trends in financing which have paralleled various stages of development within the overall hydroelectric industry, and these are reviewed in the paper, along with a case history approach to specific project financing.
