Abstract:

This paper deals with specifics and refinements that develop 'rules of thumb' for analysis of hydro projects. The authors' experience is on sites that are 5 megawatts or less. The analysis package consists of several components, including a net present value (NPV) analysis, a payback analysis and an overall revenue and tax analysis. The key element in this study is a sensitivity analysis of the assumptions and specifics which impact the NPV analysis.
