Abstract:

This paper deals with three small hydroelectric plants installed at existing dams in California with moderately high heads (about 200 feet). In each case there was an overriding need to maintain existing project discharges. The need to adapt to the existing project requirements influenced the design of the power plants, and called for special conditions to be imposed on the construction contractors.
