Micro PAT-Synchronous Generator Unit for Isolated Power Supply at Sultan Project Dam

by Les Pereira, R. W. Beck & Associates, Seattle, WA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Waterpower '85

Abstract:

The paper describes a unique application of a micro-PAT Unit installation utilizing downstream release flows for providing an isolated power supply at the Jackson (Sultan) dam in Washington State. The unit and the electrical load frequency controller using switched resistor loads for frequency control has performed well since it has been put into operation. A particularly welcome operational feature of the project is the good accessibility of the load frequency controller and the unit controls although the unit itself is located in a poorly accessible location.
