A New Turgo Turbine in China

Abstract:

In this paper a special runner bucket of the new Turgo turbine is illustrated and a comparison is made between the characteristics of the new Turgo and the ordinary Turgo turbine with the same diameter ratio d//o/D//1. A new formula is derived to explain the phenomenon of efficiency increasing with decrease in the diameter ratio. This phenomenon is shown by test curves with different d//o/D//1's. The main geometric parameters of the new Turgo turbine runner are calculated by some new equations.
