by Dana M. Dougherty, Ayres, Lewis, Norris & May Inc, Ann Arbor, MI, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Waterpower '85

Abstract:

This paper presents a discussion of the relative merits of each alternative, with emphasis placed on experience gained from projects recently completed. The discussion considers such factors as capital cost, operation and maintenance costs, system reliability, and system efficiency, as well as other design considerations. Equipment manufacturers, owner/operators and consulting engineers were contacted in order to obtain their views on the subject, as well as empirical data from recently completed projects. This information provides critical insight into the issue and greatly aids the comparative evaluation process.
