Abstract:

The 4 MW Cherokee Falls Hydroelectric Project is located near Gaffney, South Carolina, at the existing Cherokee Falls dam at mile 102 on the Broad River. The work involves constructing the powerhouse, switchyard, transmission line and rehabilitating the dam. This project had a lapse time of seven years from the feasibility studies to the final operation of the unit. The paper describes the history of the project from its inception to its projected completion, in particular it discusses the roles of the developer and project manager in bringing the project to fruition.
