Abstract:

The paper discusses status of hydropower studies within the Rock Island District of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. It presents an overview of the low head hydropower studies on those portions of the Mississippi River and Illinois Waterway that are within the District jurisdiction, emphasizing those projects which were found to be economically feasible. Also discussed are the installation alternatives, environmental problems, recommended project plans, and plan implementation.
