Abstract:

In a bus parts inventory, the interface which is important to automate is not the interface with the accounting system but the interface with the work order system. Therefore, parts inventory should be a feature of any maintenance system selected. The accounting system should be easy to use by non-systems professionals and non CPAs. All accounting functions should be controlled through menu selection, not system commands. There should be 'context-sensitive' help files on line, and the system should include a tutorial or a practice data base of accounts and transactions.
