Abstract:

An agency's effectiveness in undertaking its highway safety responsibilities is most critically dependent upon the information available and the means provided to access and to analyze it. This paper describes a microcomputer-based information management system called the Chesapeake Safety Management System (CSMS). This system was designed to meet the safety management needs of the Chesapeake, Virginia Police Division. It is believed to represent a viable model for safety management systems for small and medium sized communities.
