Part of: Microcomputer Applications Within the Urban Transportation Environment

Abstract:

The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (the regional transportation planning agency for the San Francisco Bay Area) had early success in applying microcomputers to certain transit financial management functions. However, the tasks that were initially automated were developed without an overall plan for integrating all functions into a meaningful system for financial analysis. This paper outlines a framework for the further development of such an integrated system for a metropolitan planning organization facing an increasingly complex transit financing environment.
