Abstract:

Current research is developing new materials, producing more sophisticated circuits, allowing price reductions, linking micros and minis to mainframes. The next technological avalanche in computers is seen to be in the area of software, which will provide the means to far exceed the abilities of the average user. The industry must meet the challenge of educating the users to assimilate the technology as it develops.
