Abstract:

This paper outlines the design and development of a Multi-Modal Information System in Duluth, Minnesota. The system applies state-of-the-art microcomputer technology to the provision of improved transit information. The system was developed in response to the rising cost of maintaining a staffed information center, the desire to provide information at expanded times and locations and to integrate transit, rideshare, taxi, AMTRAK and other transportation information.
