Abstract:

Salt Lake City experienced snowmelt floods during 1983 and 1984. Peaks during these years were very high with many historic records being set in both years. Different and unique problems of controlling flood water were faced in each year. Some of the solution included using city streets for rivers, diverting excess flow into local drain lines, and constructing levees, dikes and pump stations.
