Abstract:

Segredo dam, located immediately downstream of Foz do Areia in the Iguacu river, Parana, Brazil, is the next concrete face rockfill dam to be built by 'Companhia Paranaense de Energia, COPEL'. The design of the dam is largely based on Foz do Areia experience, and follows basically the main design features of that dam. A brief description of the project is given. The main rockfill dam is 476 ft (145 m) high and 2,313 ft (705 m) long at the crest, with a volume of about 9. 5 multiplied by 10**6 cu yd (7. 3 hm**3).
