Abstract:

Salvajina Dam was constructed between July, 1982 and November, 1984. Relevant construction aspects are described, particularly those related with procedures and statistical data of the construction of the concrete face, grouting operations and some problems experienced during construction in relation with erosion and high moisture content of the face - supporting zone, placing of the drain zone and high fine content of the rockfill zone of the dam. Salvajina dam was extensively instrumented to keep watch on the performance of the concrete slab, the embankment and its foundation.
