Abstract:

The methods and equipment for the construction of Foz do Areia Dam during 1976-1980 in Brazil are described. Special emphasis is given to the rockfill construction. Foz do Areia was the first concrete face dam in Brazil and at the time of construction was the highest dam in Brazil and the highest concrete face dam in the world.
