Abstract:

The general aspects of design and construction of the Alto Anchicaya Dam duilt during 1970 - 1974 in Colombia, South America are described. The paper refers to the performance of the structure during 10 years of operation after remedial measures to overcome excessive leakage during the initial reservoir filling. Certain lessons learned by comparing the performance of Alto Anchicaya Dam with concrete face dams recently built in other countries are also presented.
