Abstract:

Composite slab construction is defined as a system comprising normal weight or lightweight structural concrete placed permanently over cold-formed steel decking in which the steel deck performs the dual role of acting as a form for the concrete during construction and as positive reinforcement for the slab during service. These specifications present provisions applicable to composite slabs. The provide design criteria and formulas for the engineer, test criteria for the steel deck manufacturer, and recommendations for good construction practice.
