Abstract:

The second edition of Construction Cost Control, the first revision in thirty-three years, has been updated to provide engineers and contractors with a system of cost control which represents good current practice. Computer applications are given as well as the manual methods upon which the computer applicatons are based. A secondary purpose of this edition is to serve as a teaching guide. The manual is intended primarily to aid those in construction cost control; to round out their knowledge and increase their contribution to their employers. Many of the methods outlined are in common usage?indeed, they have been selected because they have stood the test of time. Thus it can serve as a review for experienced construction personnel. The principles and procedures given here can be advantageously integrated, in whole or in part, with existing systems. This manual is not a text on accounting, though the system outlined adheres to accepted accounting principles. Explanation of accounting processes is limited to that required for cost control.
