AIRTRANS System Maintenance

by David A. Slaboda, Dallas/Fort Worth Int Airport, Transportation Dep, TX, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Automated People Movers: Engineering and Management in Major Activity Centers

Abstract:

This paper addresses AIRTRANS, and in particular, its maintenance organization, facilities, tasks and methodologies. Recognizing that other automated people movers (APM's) will demand similar technical skills, facilities and maintenance tasks, the highlights of the system are discussed. Like AIRTRANS, other systems will require train shops to maintain its fleet, electronic labs to upkeep microprocessors, computers, and electronic modules, and of course, the guideway crew to inspect and repair the running surface, stations, switches and fare equipment.
