Abstract:

The application of microprocessor-based data acquisition systems to laboratory experiments and field tests is discussed. The importance of the system design and hardware selection is emphasized. A system incorporating a microprocessor with the optimum internal architecture and an analog-to-digital converter with an optimum resolution is recommended.
