Abstract:

The feasibility of using an infiltration approach for routine runoff prediction has become a reality with the development of approximate infiltration models based on physical principles and infiltration parameter inputs based on readily available soil properties. This paper presents a design storm infiltration-based runoff procedure for use at ungaged locations. The procedure which utilizes the Green-Ampt infiltration equation for predicting the distribution of rainfall excess for design storms is presented. Basic input is readily available soil texture and porosity data.
