Abstract:

Embankment overtopping and dam safety are major concerns of civil engineering and the general public. Very little is known about overtopping events and much less has been published or studied. This paper describes developments in a research project to learn about behavior of overtopped embankments and provide guidance for prediction of embankment behavior and design of resistant embankments.
