Abstract:

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) initiated a comprehensive research project in 1983 with the long-term goal of improving and validating methods for predicting the fate of chemicals in the subsurface environment. EPRI has defined detailed plans and has issued contracts to conduct research in the areas of waste leaching chemistry, subsurface transport processes, chemical attenuation of waste constituents during migration, field sampling and measurement techniques and evaluation of existing prediction methods. In the implementation of this research, EPRI is emphasizing the development of data by conducting fundamental research during the first five years of the project. Refs.
