Abstract:

SEDIMOT II was applied to Barker Reservoir watershed in Houston, Texas, in order to simulate sedimentation in the drainage area and the relative effectiveness of sediment control strategies. Due to the highly contrasting topographic conditions between the surface mining areas for which SEDIMOT II was designed and the flat coastal plains which characterize the Houston area, application of the model was not straight forward and several parameter limitations had to be modified. The alteration of the model to fit a large coastal watershed and its subsequent use as a hydrology/sedimentology design tool is the topic of this paper.
