Abstract:

The paper reports on a study to develop an efficient dynamic routing procedure that can be used on an IBM PC/XT microcomputer as the routing component in a comprehensive watershed simulation model. The model uses a numerical solution of the complete form of the de Saint Venant equations. The storage problem was overcome by adopting the explicit solution of the equations that has been out of favor with most researchers for a number of years. Partial discretization was used. A new dynamic storage routing technique was linked to the model to simulate the lateral inflows entering the channel system.
