Abstract:

Research into rainfall enhancement in Texas expanded rapidly during the 1970's with the Texas HIPLEX program. More recently, the states of Texas and Oklahoma and the United States Department of Interior's Bureau of Reclamation have joined in the SouthWest Cooperative Program (SWCP) to develop an applied weather modification technology for increasing water supplies in the Texas-Oklahoma region. This paper provides an overview of the preliminary design for a rainfall enhancement project in Texas within the SWCP.
