Abstract:

The initial phases of the Federal Central Arizona Project (CAP) are nearing completion and in the latter part of this year the long-awaited delivery of Colorado River water will become a reality in a portion of the CAP service area. Irrigation districts and cities are in the process of building facilities to utilize this much needed new supply of water. Presented herein is a description of the systems and operational plans of three irrigation districts in the CAP service area which are considered unique in their concept as well as in the complexity and number of factors which must be evaluated in developing optimum plans of operation.
