Abstract:

Dioxin emissions from resource recovery facilities are a current concern to the application of this technology in the disposal of municipal refuse. A quantitative risk assessment performed for a proposed facility resulted in potential carcinogenic risks on the order of 1. 7 in one million, a level considered to be within acceptable ranges by both regulators and the general public.
