Abstract:

In the fall of 1984, ASCE published a standard, Measurements of Oxygen Transfer in Clean Water. The standard, if used by the industry, should simplify evaluation of alternative aeration systems because reported performance data will be standardized. What remains to be developed are reliable techniques for applying clean water results to dirty water. This paper presents the methods and results of a study of alternative aeration systems at a 35 MGD activated sludge plant which treats a combination of municipal and paper mill wastewaters.
