Abstract:

Biological monitoring of NPDES (National Pollution Discharge Elimination System) effluents is becoming a reality in several EPA regions. While the advantages are genuine the loopholes and pitfalls are noteworthy. The author outlines the major loopholes and shares some 'rules' for the regulator and the industrial discharger to consider in responding to biological monitoring requirements. (Author abstract. )
