Abstract:

The numerical simulation of groundwater flow and transport has evolved from a technical curiosity to an established method of hydrological analysis. In this brief review the progress that has been made in this technological area over the past two decades is summarized. While groundwater modeling may appear to be a relatively narrow topic, it has many dimensions. Consequently, this overview, unfortunately, is less than exhaustive and the references provided are meant to be indicative rather than all encompassing.
