Abstract:

Project optimization analysis techniques have become indispensable tools for the design, management, and administration of flood control improvements. The increasing complexity of engineering designs and requirements has given engineers a new role in the decision making process. The use of computer technology for the optimization analysis allows the engineer to make objective choices between alternative project components and ultimate project scopes. This paper utilizes an actual case study to illustrate how computerized analyses were used to determine an optimum engineering solution for a specific flood problem area.
