Abstract:

Massachusetts wastewater treatment plants must file monthly operating reports with the Massachusetts Division of Water Pollution Control. A microcomputer-based monthly reporting system has been developed to replace the current handwritten forms. The system includes: (1) interactive software which will allow plant opertors to enter and store data using a microcomputer, (2) a communications program to accomplish data transfer (via telephone) to the Division's computer, and (3) software for the Division's engineers to review the monthly data. This paper presents the overall system and reports on an ongoing pilot implementation of the system at three treatment plants.
