Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Computer Applications in Water Resources

Abstract:

This tutorial describes basic concepts, purposes and issues of mathematical models for lakes and river basins. Simulation and optimization models are discussed and their structure and uses are contrasted. Specific concern is directed towards reasons that these models are not being used to their full potential. Suggestions for increasing and improving the use of mathematical models for lakes and river basins are offered.
