Abstract:

The optimization of reservoir operations is a major economic concern. This paper contributes a computer software package, SPORO, written for the IBM-PC, for the stochastic optimization of reservoir operations. The software is based on the recent developments in reservoir operations analysis made at University of Toronto. The implementation of the integrated, stand-alone software package on a PC allows for in-situ utilization of the optimization methodology in the field of real-time reservoir operations. Computing experience and demonstrations are also presented.
