Abstract:

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the United States of America have jointly undertaken an investigation of the ground-water resources of Northern Jordan. An initial step in the investigation was the procurement of a Digital Equipment Corporation minicomputer, model PDP-11/44, through an Agency for International Development grant Number 278-0243. The Water Data Bank of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is contained on the minicomputer which is located in the Water Authority of Jordan under the direction of His Excellency, Engineer Mohammad S. Kilani, President of the Water Authority. A major goal of the investigation was the improvement of water resources planning and management techniques through the development and use of a water data bank. The coupling of the software and the data of the Water Data Bank will give the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan effective tools to use in the management and the planning for future development of natural resources.
