Abstract:

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) has developed a mathematical simulation model for a key portion of its distribution system. A representative portion of the distribution system was selected to develop the fundamental modeling and programming concepts and to incorporate the needs of the eventual model user prior to modeling the entire system. This paper discusses the unique hydraulic constraints of this system and the adaption of a standard pipe network analysis computer program to simulate it.
