Abstract:

Computer modeling of hydraulic conditions in distribution systems has been widely applied over the past decade for design and operation of systems. Conversely, little attention has been given to the use of computer models for water quality studies and management of distribution systems. This paper presents highlights of computer-aided studies directed by the author over the past 15 years and selected to show the extension of hydraulic modeling to water quality modeling of distribution systems. Applications include evaluation of carrying capacity blending of sources, settling and scouring, and pipeline reaction.
