Abstract:

Toms River Water Company provides water service to Dover Township, the Borough of South Toms River and portions of Berkeley Township, all in Ocean County, New Jersey. Existing supply facilities are located throughout the operating area. Due to rapid growth in recent years, Toms River Water Company has recognized the need to expand existing facilities and provide additional source of supply. One such supply source exists in an area remote to heavy demand locations. This paper reviews the hydraulic modeling of the system distribution network to accommodate the proposed supply source. Illustrations of the problems encountered in balancing a system of multiple sources of supply are discussed and system design criteria are presented from data obtained utilizing the computer model.
