Abstract:

Extensive use of high resolution graphics, form-oriented full screen data entry, and contextual help messages have proven to be an effective means of structuring the dialogue between the user and the computer. The high cost of programming such an interface for individual applications has restricted the majority of potential water resources software authors from fully employing the communicative powers of the personal computer. The purpose of this paper is to outline a software authoring approach that can help alleviate this software development bottleneck.
