Abstract:

Many numerical algorithms for ground water flow models have been published and are available in computer software packages. It is the job of the ground water specialist to select an appropriate model for the system at hand, based on the geophysical characteristics of the aquifer system, and data availability. This paper examines the theoretical principles of ground water models with attention to the applicability of the models to real world systems. Representative numerical algorithms are discussed as well as available analytical solutions.
