Abstract:

Twenty-eight full scale load tests and the results of 41 geotechnical studies were analyzed to correlate shear strength interpreted from field and laboratory test data with those derived from the load tests. The goal of this study was to obtain better correlations between measured and predicted pier capacities so that design procedures based solely on shear strength parameters would be improved.
