Abstract:

To improve estimates of shoaling rates in the crossings of a deep draft channel from New Orleans to Baton Rouge, a prototype test was conducted in Fairview Crossing at Mile 116 above Head of Passes in the Mississippi River. Based on this test, the projected shoaling quantities for the crossings which will have to be dredged between New Orleans and Baton Rouge have been compared to maintenance quantities previously predicted.
