Part of: Sedimentation Consolidation Models?Predictions and Validation

Abstract:

Test results suggest that self weight consolidation begins when an interface forms in the settlement column and the slurry reaches a critical concentration as a result of the solid particles becoming locked into a three dimensional lattice. The rate of settlement for a specific material is characterized by a coefficient of consolidation and a graphical method for determining the coefficient is outlined.
