A Structural Engineering Perspective for Drilled Shafts

by Walter E. Hanson, Hanson Engineers Inc, Springfield, IL, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Analysis and Design of Pile Foundations

Abstract:

This commentary is an attempt to close the gap between the Building Code Requirements for Reinforced Concrete (ACE 318-83) and the design of drilled shafts. The context of design includes the selection of loads and resistances for the proportioning of the shaft as well as for the structural design which follows the proportioning step.
